Big Play Football Board Game:
Big Play Football is a game that uses a fast setup, is statistically accurate, fairly quick play by play type game. Instead of using a team defenses Big Play allows for individual defensive players to make the plays in the game just like in the real game. Plus the game is made with the solitaire gamer in mind with all of the play calling and the players involved handled by the game engine itself.
Game play allows for different offensive and defensive players to be involved on any play without the game player having to make substitutions. Special teams are also included on each sheet with all the players performing just like the season being recreated. Each team has a single chart which contains all the information needed to play the game so space is not an issue with the game. Only one extra game chart is needed to play and that only comes into play occasionally. The game engine is solely run by the team charts and dice or random number sheets.
Those big hitting, big sack, big pass defenders all come to life in this game. All defensive players have ratings for forced fumbles, plays made, as well as tackles for loss, run rate, pass rate, sacks, passes defended, interceptions and returns. This isn’t a game where one single rating encompasses the whole defensive player. There are enough ratings for each player so each individual plays just like his real life counterpart in all areas of the game.
The runners are rated for the basic things as well as big play %, fumbles and ability to avoid tackles for loss. Receivers will show their average gain plus the ability to make the “Big Play”. Quarterbacks contribute in all areas as they run, pass, avoid sacks and interceptions with very simple, yet accurate, ratings.
